Your hometown meat counter

Walk in and you will find whole birds and cut-up fryers, fresh pork and beef, and the specialties we are known for. Boudin and sausage are made here in small batches. Stuffed chickens are deboned and packed by hand. Smoked sausage, tasso, and andouille come off our own pit. Nothing sits around long. What is in the case was cut that day.

Opelousas has always taken its cooking seriously, and Bellard's grew up right alongside it. Three generations of our family have stood behind this counter, and a lot of the people we serve have been coming since they were kids. Tell us what you are making and we will cut it to fit the pot.

Stop in or call ahead

The shop is at 405 South Bullard Street, open Monday through Friday and Saturday morning. On a normal weekday you can walk right in and we will cut what you want, how you want it. For a boil, a holiday meal, or a big family gathering, call ahead at (337) 942-3033 and we will have your order trimmed, packed, and ready when you pull up.

We run retail and wholesale out of the same building, so the chicken a restaurant buys by the case is the same chicken you take home by the pound. There is no online ordering. The best way to see what is fresh is to come by or pick up the phone.

What folks drive in for

Boudin made in house is the regular. Stuffed chickens move fast around the holidays, and we take orders for turduckens. Crawfish come in when the season is good, sold live or boiled by the sack or the pound. If you are not sure what you need for a crowd, ask. Planning the meat for a gathering is half of what we do.
